Load Frequency Control of Microgrid System by Battery and Pumped-Hydro Energy Storage

Energy security is one of the main factors in development and diffusion microgrid applications. In networks operating without storage, operation their systems greatly affected by sudden load demand intermittent generation fluctuations. The purposes using energy storage microgrids are stabilizing renewable sources locally, to ensure that production matches demands, participating frequency regulation process, maintaining balance between microgrids, increasing reliability. This study investigates power an isolated system, including (battery pump-hydro). Realistic data for wind solar used optimal tuning proportional-integral controller, integral absolute error criterion multiplied time, with a Quasi-Newton method. Simulation studies have been carried out, investigate performance hydroelectric plant system pump 24 h, under various conditions. results reveal units it exhibits more consistent smooth dynamic performance, efficiently.
